I just bought a DVD Panasonic home theater surround sound system?
I can not get the sound to pass through while watching TV, but I can get the DVD player to work. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if I need a cable or something. I have a VIZIO HDTV if that helps any. I have a HDMI cable running from the cable box to the TV, and then I used the RCA cables from TV to home theater system but not working just the DVD player.
You say you have run the RCA cables from TV to the HT, instead try to connect a stereo output (red / white RCA) cable box to a stereo input in the system HT, once connected be sure to select the correct input on the HT for sound. You might even have an optical output cable box, and an optical input HT system – this would be the preferred connection, as it would provide multichannel surround your HT system.
